about angela...

Hi and thanks for stopping by. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Waterloo, Ontario. I have created this blog so you can follow my latest work and to share a bit about myself personally so you can get to know me better. Athough I LOVE photography it is not nearly the only thing I am passionate about!

I LOVE....

my kids, family and friends more than anything in the world
books - my favourites are the "Lord of the Rings" (mom used to read them to me)
my dog
pizzzzaaaaa mmmmmm
campfires
chocolate cake
crosswords
road trips!
music - anything by Van Morrison - Quindon Tarver did the best version of "When Dove's Cry" - Queen, John Mayer, Imogen Heap, Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd - Peter Gabriel's "In your eyes" - Kings of Leon were even more amazing live - Coldplay, The Cure - Blue October rocks my world too.....I could go on

I DON'T eat meat and I think that people should be nicer to each other even when they are mad. I am a morning person who drives a Toyota Camry because I think it is the most sensible car on the road. My favourite movie of all time is "The Princess Bride" followed closely by Baz Luhrman's "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet", "The Never Ending Story", "Goonies" and "Ferris Beullers Day Off". My favourite colour is purple and I drink tea NOT coffee. I am a scorpio who doesn't watch TV and I think my mother is the most beautiful and strongest woman I know.

I may have a slightly unhealthy addiction to fresh mint Tic Tacs. I believe life is too short to waste time regretting anything and that people will be happier when they simply make the decision to be happy.

I am currently reading "the EVERAFTER" by Amy Huntley. The last movie I watched was "Valentines Day". This was a cute movie...even my husband thought it was pretty good.

Thanks for reading, come back soon!

Random side of the road locations ROCK!

I have known Jenn for over 5 years now. We don’t get to see each other very often but when we do it’s always fun to catch up. We lucked out with some balmy March weather (yeah right!). We drove aimlessly around until we found what seemed to be a nice place to stop and it turned out to be an amazing place to stop. Jenn is absolutely drop dead gorgeous….as you can see. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon Jenn I look forward to your wedding someday xoxo

Oh what a night!

Last week Hilary and I had the opportunity to photograph an incredible event at Bingeman’s in Kitchener. Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty just celebrated 25 years of business in the Kitchener Waterloo region. To celebrate they hosted a Building Dreams Gala benefiting Habitat for Humanity and the 2010 build of a new home for a family in need. Skip over to their  blog to keep up to date with their progress. The Gala raised over $100,000 and we were incredibly proud to take part in this event. Here’s to another 25 years!!

We ran into Mark from SNAP and we had to get a picture with him!

And a couple self portraits for fun :)

Just a random post about our average winter day!

OK so neither of us are the best on ice…we spent more time on our tooshies than on our skates but what a spectacular day it was yesterday.

Oops! Apparently a fall doesn’t hurt nearly as much when you land on a ruffly pink petti skirt!

March 2, 2010 - 10:35 am K - She is a beauty. V said: Oh, those are pretty pictures!

lexi + simon | boston, ma

I met Lexi at a workshop I went to in July, 2009  and we hit it off right away. She invited me to come to Boston to catch up and also to shoot one of her December weddings. Of course I jumped at the chance and we had an absolute blast. Lexi picked me up from the airport and we made the hour long journey to her place chatting and laughing the entire way. In all fairness we didn’t know each other all that well since we had only spent 3 days together a few months prior but our instincts about each other were so right!! It was like catching up with an old friend with all the chatter but the same comfortable silences you can have with someone you’ve known forever.

When we arrived at their house Lexi’s hubby Simon and their gorgeous puppy Guinness greeted us at the door. I was promptly served a tall glass of Blueberry Beer! I have never seen or heard of Blueberry Beer before and it was…simply put…just YUM! We hung out late into the night chin wagging about love, life and everything else in between. I’m not sure what I enjoyed the most? Staying up half the night or getting to sleep in in the morning! Then, just when things couldn’t get any better, I wake up to home made blueberry muffins….wowzers they were so amazing I ate 3 of them.

On Sunday we awoke to the first real snowfall that Lexi and Simon had seen for the year and it was absolutely stunning. It was mild and sunny and the perfect white snow coated their entire yard. Lexi asked if I would mind taking a few photos of them because they hadn’t had any done since their own wedding. Mostly I would say that photographing other photographers is a fairly nerve racking experience for me but Lexi and Simon were so easy. They are so in love I could feel it through the lens. Thanks to both of you for being so gosh darn amazing and I sincerely hope you can make it up here this summer for a visit. xoxo miss you.

Here’s a photo Simon grabbed of Lexi and I.

And the yummy Blueberry Beer and muffins!

Guinness asking nicely for some of those blueberry muffins.

Confessions of a dance Mom

I have been waiting 5 years to see my sweet little ballerina in a real tutu! We had rehearsal this morning and got to see them dressed for the first time. Although I can not show full costume shots until after the year end show here is a little peak at some dressing room chaos. My little one taking a moment to admire herself in the mirror. All the girls couldn’t help but be giddy in their ballerina tutu’s. Priceless.

February 20, 2010 - 3:59 pm Holly - this is a super shot!

February 21, 2010 - 11:45 am linda perston - a few Moms were giddy too!!

February 21, 2010 - 7:51 pm Angela - Oh so true :)

February 22, 2010 - 3:13 pm K - T and her dance friends make beautiful ballarinas. Can't wait to see the tutu.

tim + sharlene | married | hamilton, on

I met Tim and Sharlene  in the fall of last year when we met to photograph their engagement session. I knew immediately that this wedding would be organized, punctual and perfectly executed. We met up with the boys at Tim’s parents place and had some fun goofing around while they  got ready. Then we scooted off to Tim and Sharlene’s place to spend some time with the girls. Sharlene is one of the funniest people I have ever met. We laughed and had an amazing time getting some beautiful pictures of all the primping and preparing.

A moment between mom and daughter just before we left for the church.

My favourite part of every wedding ceremony.

Sharlene had the day so well planned we had some time to just reflect with immediate family just after the ceremony before heading out to get some great shots of the newly weds and their wedding party.

The lovely ladies.

Love the new fish eye lens. Way too much fun on this photo…right boys…

Personal fave. Love the light in this picture.

Ok! I know that is a lot of photos so I am going to stop here….well one more….then I am done. This is another one of my favourites from this wedding. Thanks Tim and Sharlene for trusting me with your special day. I had the most wonderful time meeting your families and documenting your wedding. xoxo
